The task was to transform a former gallery in Marylebone into the flagship boutique for avant-garde fashion designer Alice Archer. Both Archer and her mentor, Simon Burstein, were actively involved in the decision-making process. The design needed to reflect Archer's distinctive style, showcasing her intricate embroidery and repurposed vintage materials, while maintaining a practical and minimalist approach that directed attention to her clothing. Sustainability was also a key consideration in the design ethos.

The Brief
Zachary Pulman Design Studio crafted a space that embodied Alice Archer's artistic essence by incorporating her modern embroidery techniques and commitment to repurposing materials. Highlights included a newly ebonized central display case, originally a science lab cabinet, and vintage glass shop fixtures that added texture and charm.
Minimalism in the architecture was balanced with soft furnishings and clever lighting solutions, such as bespoke diffused LED shelving, which not only highlighted the clothing but also unified the boutique’s challenging layout. The result was a space that merged practicality with artistic depth, creating a fitting home for Archer’s bold and intricate designs.
