The project involved transforming a Victorian terrace in Islington, untouched since the 1960s, with the simple aim of bringing the tropics to London. This bold concept needed to be approved for planning within the Islington Conservation Area, which is known for its challenging restrictions.

Concept Design Details Supervision

The Brief

The design featured a full-width rear glass extension and the removal of internal walls on the ground level, turning the dark, period home into a light, modern space. The design included custom joinery, such as handmade kitchen cabinetry and a matching douglas fir bookcase, along with bespoke digital camouflage carpets. A standout feature was the fluorescent yellow cantilevered staircase, designed as a playful treat for children. The entire first floor was transformed into a luxurious master suite, complete with a private terrace, walk-in wardrobes, and a master bath with Nero absolute marble vanity units.
