Target Media moved into Derwent London’s architecturally significant building, in Bloomsbury, noted for it’s piano black, brushed steel and concrete façade, soliciting Zachary Pulman Design Studio to turn their reception area into an impressive greeting point.

The compact and uninteresting area services 4 floors and over 200 staff. Conscious of the limitations of this key transitional space, our team sought to create a greater sense of volume focusing on breaking the plains which limited the room. This was achieved through mirrored walls, a painted ceiling and scalloped sections folding from horizontal to vertical. A single diffuse light-box, created a sense of luminosity, space and continuity, while the use of natural materials alluded to the transience of the space.

A continuous seam of wooden strips outlined the ceiling and featured along the floor; the theme of wood was extended into the reception and seating area.Fully interchangeable coloured LED lighting integrated into the scheme turned the interim space into a valuable space used for client pitches and reception events. Being a media company it was inevitable a colossal TV would have a presence and so it was only fitting that we customized its frame in a liquid metal.

The Brief

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
