We were to create this bathroom within a classical 18th Century villa which over years had been stripped of any historic features by previous owners.
Despite the building being listed, this gave scope to do something modern, contrasting, innovative, exciting, outrageous and we went for it with enthusiasm.
The sink, carved from a single piece of Basaltina, weighs 800kg! Daringly we cantilevered it from the wall, giving the illusion of floating. The Bisazza tiles sparkled with silver when the carefully placed diffused lighting was on – super perfect for relaxing in the evenings.
The owner, when asked how he was enjoying his new bathroom said: “it’s kinda like going to a cool club – but it’s in your house.” We think there is a compliment in there!
