St Johns Lane

Zachary Pulman Design Studio carried out the refurbishment of a Victorian warehouse for a young couple with a growing family and busy lifestyle. Incidentally, the clients found the generic quality of the development extremely beautiful.

We reduced the number of bedrooms from four to three enabling each room to have its own en-suite and dressing room. The choice of materials were unfussy to complement the existing atmosphere of the space. Accordingly, we used Dinesen flooring, Bulthaup kitchen and Vola bathroom products.

Bespoke furniture items included site-specific cabinets and a series of five meter long floating shelves. We also designed a hydraulic laundry rack that could accommodate the super king bed sheets! The apartment benefited from magnificent views across to St. Paul’s. However, the intensity of the direct sunlight and wind in the main living space needed to be managed efficiently without compromising the room’s contemporary aesthetic. Our solution was to integrate blinds into the doors. We also opted for a special solar glass, adding a 5% tint to the glazing, thus eradicating 99% of the glare.
